Join us in the Greenhouse on Saturday, June 22nd, from 9am to 4pm for our favorite summer event. It’ll be a fun day with expert growers to chat with, a BYO plant contest, great food to enjoy, and of course, the chance to see – and take home – a whole bunch of pretty weird plants.
Feed Your Obsession
Cacti and succulent fans will tell you – this fascinating group of plants has a way of stealing your heart. Even if you think you’ve seen them all, get ready to be amazed. Specialty cacti and succulent growers Chaos on Coyote Trail and Crump Greenhouse will be here with tons of unusual plants – including some strange examples we don’t often see. It’s a unique opportunity to add a few rare or exotic varieties to your collection and get advice about their care straight from the growers who know them best.
Learn from an Expert
Whether you’re new to the world of cacti and succulents or you’re an experienced plant parent – always ready to learn something new – join us as we welcome expert cactus and succulent grower Terri Mann of Chaos on Coyote Trail to the Cactus and Succulent Show. In a seminar at 11am, Terri will share some of her vast knowledge and experience with these amazing plants and fill us in on the secrets of successfully rearing them at home. She’ll cover the basics of light and water, soil and feeding, plus a few advanced topics like propagation too. Whether cacti have been your thing for years or you’ve just adopted your first Echeveria, you won’t want to miss this chance to learn more from Terri.
Show Your Plant + Win
If there’s one thing cacti and succulent parents love more than owning odd plants, it’s admiring everyone else’s. If you have an especially interesting cactus or succulent you’d love to share with other enthusiasts – and maybe win a prize too – bring it to the show between 9am and 10am to register for our friendly plant contest. You could win a special edition event t-shirt and one of three Mulhall’s gift cards of up to $100!
And whether you enter a plant in our contest or not, stop by our popular Plant ID booth to test your plant knowledge and win another fun prize.
Enjoy Tacos + Ice Cream Too
We would never expect you to admire all these unusual plants on an empty stomach, so from 11am to 2pm, Taqueria la Fogata will be here serving up fresh tacos and quesadillas from their mobile taco cart. Then, cool off with a scoop of fresh, locally sourced – and addictively delicious – ice cream from Coneflower Creamery. Both are cash-only, so be sure to bring some along – we wouldn’t want you to leave hungry.
It’s an Event for Everyone
Plants have a way of drawing people together. Maybe your cactus collection consists of one – or maybe it’s a dozen. Or maybe you just love good food and mingling with great plant people on a beautiful summer day.
