The plaza at Mulhall’s Garden + Home is an invitation to our community. Join us in welcoming back the life that once covered this region! Flowing grasses, wildflowers, and the songbirds and pollinators that depend on them.
With the recent and ongoing renovations at our store, we’ve been thinking hard about what we want this place to be – for our community, for the planet, and for those dedicating their careers to connecting people to the natural world. And with that, we’re excited to help welcome a lot more native plants into our community and around our property, starting with the plaza at our new store entrance.
Planted in sweeping masses are nearly twenty plant species of the Great Plains, grown by our team at Mulhall’s Farms. Each has its own unique role and intricate relationships in the local ecosystem, supporting insects, birds, and other biodiversity.
On our butterfly milkweed, you might notice caterpillars of the threatened monarch butterfly. On golden alexander, those of the impressive black swallowtail. Or brilliant yellow goldfinches enjoying the seeds of our coneflowers.
