We want to give a big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Earth Day celebration last Saturday. Spring is the season of renewal, and at our Earth Day party, we saw evidence of it everywhere – in the fresh green foliage, the brightly colored blooms, and in all the laughter and smiles that come naturally when the sun finally warms us up again. We had a great time spending the afternoon with all of you, and we hope you had fun too!
Time to Rejuvenate
A new season seems to jump-start our creativity – and it’s especially true when spring follows a long and quiet winter. That’s why we were so glad to partner with Sarah Fettin-Kuester and her crew from Two Keys Creative Studios. Their botanical wall-hanging was the perfect hands-on project for our Earth Day celebration. An industrious, creative energy surrounded their tables as both kids and adults pulled pieces from an inspiring selection of natural twigs, beads, fragrant foliage and blooms, soft yarn, and twirling feathers to build their one-of-a-kind creations. And did you get a chance to add a piece or two to our community Earth Loom? It turned out beautifully – thanks to everyone’s amazing contributions.
Time to Reconnect
For plant people like us, winter can be a long wait, so it’s always exciting to reconnect with friendly energy over our shared devotion to plants and flowers. All over the Greenhouse we saw people sharing new plant discoveries, complimenting each other’s botanical creations, and lending guidance to less-experienced plant enthusiasts looking for advice. We loved having the Omaha Bee Club with us at our Earth Day event too – with spring come flowers, followed closely by the bees, and we hope you had a chance to stop and chat about these important pollinators with members of the club too.
Time to Refresh
The Greenhouse is full of new plants and blooms, and it’s a treat to see these potted beauties heading home to bring new color and energy to your own spaces. So many of you chose refreshment in another way too – with a specialty coffee from Myrtle & Cyprus Coffeehouse or a creamy cup of all-natural ice cream from Coneflower Creamery. Or maybe you grabbed a delicious lunch from Stirnella – possibly some of those amazing deviled eggs with the soy candied bacon. And we hope you enjoyed the chance to kick back and let local singer-songwriter Jocelyn refresh your spirit with her inviting melodies, expressive voice, and engaging stories to go with each song.
Thanks for Joining Us
We want to thank each of our community partners for their part in making our Earth Day such a fun event. Spring is here, and soon we’ll be completely immersed in the excitement and productivity that defines this wonderful time of year. We’re so glad we could kick off spring on such a happy note, and we look forward to sharing even more of the season’s beauty, creativity, and energy with you in the weeks to come.
