Living Walls + Urban Jungles

Plants are our passion. And we love sharing that passion with others – helping our community enjoy the beauty of the natural world and the benefits plants bring to our built spaces. Both outdoor and in. Here we explore the value that comes from surrounding yourself with plants in an indoor setting – whether it’s your office, business, or home – and some of the ways our team is helping our community do just that.

Why Indoor Plants Matter

We all know plants are beautiful – but that beauty is more powerful than you think. Studies show that just sharing space with living plants has measurable positive effects on both our physical and emotional well-being.

Whether at home or at work, plants improve air quality by increasing humidity in the air, reducing airborne dust, and absorbing harmful pollutants. They create an inviting environment by absorbing background noise, softening all those squared-off walls and furniture, and creating little areas of comforting privacy within large, open spaces. Just being around plants has been shown to reduce stress – and in an office environment, that can lead to better productivity, fewer sick days, and a noticeable increase in job satisfaction.

Interiorscapes

Similar to how plants are arranged in an outdoor landscape, interior spaces can be designed to hold plantings of indoor plants too. If you’re looking for a larger, multi-dimensional design – with a combination of indoor trees and smaller houseplants, interiorscapes are a great option and can make a big impact in a larger space such as an atrium. This could include everything from a tall fiddle leaf fig to a climbing monstera or sprawling pothos. And if you want something really unique – we’re always getting in new and unusual plants, so we can help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

Living Walls

Another great way to add plants to an indoor space – without taking up a lot of space – is by taking your plants vertically. It could be a small addition like a living piece of wall art or an entire wall designed for growing indoor plants. Like standing tropical plants, living walls promote healthier living spaces by purifying and humidifying the air. They make a beautiful focal point for entrance areas, meeting spaces, or room dividers. Helping local businesses identify those areas where a living wall could add more value and guiding them through the entire process – from design to installation and maintenance – is something we love to do.

Potted Plants + Living Arrangements

Of course another great way to incorporate plants in any indoor space is with individually potted plants or living arrangements. These could be tucked into open corners of an office, set on a table in a foyer, placed along a tall window, or just about any place at all. Plants like orchids and bromeliads can be used to add more color too. And as blooms fade or seasons change, they can be swapped out for a fresh look when the time is right.

We’re Here to Help

If you have an indoor space you’d like to fill with more living plants, our team can help. For projects requiring design, installation, or ongoing maintenance, we’ll start by visiting your space and learning about your goals, so we can create a full plan that’s perfect for you – and keep the space looking perfect even after it’s finished. To get started, schedule a consultation with one of our designers.

Or if you’re looking for a do-it-yourself option, we can help with that too. Our Greenhouse team is always happy to talk plants and help you find the perfect solution for your indoor space.
