Come join Omaha’s community of plant-minded people for the chance to talk plants and share some extras from your own plant collection. On June 16th, from 11am to 1pm, we’re hosting a Plant Swap in the greenhouse – with fresh pizza, ice cream, great company, and tons of amazing plants.
Sharing Plants
What a great way to find exciting new additions to your plant collection! Bring in any disease- and pest-free plants starting at 11am. They can be houseplants, perennials, herbs, shrubs, anything that’s healthy and growing. And gardening books are welcome too. We’ll trade your contribution for points you can use to choose different plants or books someone else has brought in. Shopping for the Plant Swap will open at 11:30am – but while you wait, grab some pizza or ice cream and meet some amazing community partners.
Community Partners
For this event, we’re pleased to partner once again with our friends from Nebraska Extension – the Master Gardeners. They’ll be helping with our Plant Swap and answering your plant and gardening questions. We’re also excited to welcome the folks from The Big Garden and No More Empty Pots – two amazing local non-profit groups – both dedicated to reducing hunger in our community through gardening education, community gardens, and much more. Be sure to stop by their booths to learn more about the many projects and programs they’re working on.
Let’s Eat
While you’re here, grab lunch or enjoy an afternoon snack. Dante’s Pizzeria is joining us with their mobile wood-fired oven to serve up some delicious pizza featuring fresh, locally grown produce. Coneflower Creamery will be here too, scooping their amazing ice cream also created with fresh, local ingredients. Both are cash-only though, so be sure to bring some along – we wouldn’t want you to miss out.
Bring a Plant – Find Something New
We’re excited to get together with our plant-loving community for an afternoon of swapping plants, sharing stories, and enjoying great food. We hope you’ll join us!
