Join Us for Our Open House

Beautifying our community. Engaging people in the natural world. Inspiring change. Our team is passionate about making Omaha a more beautiful, healthy, and sustainable place to live and work. To make our space a stronger community hub where we can continue to grow the conversation, we’re undergoing some major renovations at Mulhall’s Garden + Home.

To celebrate, we invite you to join us for an Open House on Saturday, September 26th from 12p-3p for a preview of the exciting changes happening at our store. So stop by to check it out. Shop the native plant sale in our back hoop house. Enjoy the outdoor music while you grab a bite to eat out in the Nursery Yard. Shop local popups throughout our Greenhouse. And checkout the finalists in our photo contest – or enter your own photo to become a winner. We can’t wait to celebrate our updated space with all of you.

See Our New Pavillion

When you arrive, the first exciting change welcomes you right at the front door. What was once a single south entrance has become two – one for Home and one for Garden. At our Open House, we’re excited to show you the progress on our new Pavillion at the Garden entrance.

Inside, will be a green living wall to greet you and new registers for faster, easier shopping. Outside the Pavillion, you’ll see the beginning stages of an outdoor gathering place that will feature plantings inspired by the Great Plains. It’s a space to meet and relax, with a chance to grab lunch from a food truck now and then too.

Shop Our Native Plant Sale

As we continue to welcome the natural world into our built spaces, we’re excited to better support the role native plants play in our local ecosystems – serving as a critical resource for native insects, birds, and other biodiversity. With that, we’re happy to welcome our friends from Midwest Natives Nursery and Great Plains Nursery for a native plant sale in our back hoop house. Stop by to shop a variety of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials to begin or expand your own Great Plains inspired landscape.

Enjoy Live Music with Jocelyn

Joining us for the celebration is local singer-songwriter Jocelyn – the 2019 Omaha Entertainment and Arts Artist of the Year. If you were here for our Earth Day celebration last year, you already know how easily Jocelyn draws you in with her pure voice and infectious lyrics. Come enjoy her music while wandering among the beautiful perennials, trees, and shrubs in our Nursery Yard.

Shop Local Popups

While you’re here, enjoy the local popups throughout our outdoor Nursery Yard and open-air Greenhouse. Carter & Rye will be here, offering their menu of sweet and savory hand pies – a flaky, buttery crust wrapped around a delicious mix of locally sourced ingredients and made from scratch.

Be sure to check out the gorgeous painted macaroons and luscious pies from Magpie Bakery – inspired by Nebraska’s native botanicals. Or maybe you’ve been craving some of that incredible farm-to-cone ice cream from our friends at Coneflower Creamery.

You’ll also find nutritious, cold-pressed juice and smoothies from The Grove Juicery, hand-crafted blends of dried herbal teas from Artemis Teas, and natural soaps from Benson Soap Mill.

Enter our Photo Contest

Our Keep Our City Wild photo contest on Instagram is happening now through September 20th, with the finalists’ photos being shared during our Open House. To enter, share your best photos of nature in the city – or inspiration from across the Great Plains – using the hashtags #keepourcitywild and #mulhallsphotocontest and tag us in your photos. We’d love to see the location geotagged too!

Our in-house panel will select the finalists before we open up the voting. First place winner will receive a $100 gift card to our store and a feature on our blog. Second and third place winners will each receive a gift card for $50 or $25.

Come Help Us Celebrate

It’s been amazing to see our gardening community continue to grow – with more and more people wanting to connect with the natural world here in our city and be a part of its preservation. And we’re glad to be here to help support that with an improved space where we can continue to grow the conversation. We hope you’ll stop by to help us celebrate. As we’ve said, the best is yet to come, and whether you’ve been shopping with us for years, or you’re a part of the newest generation of passionate plant people, we’re excited for you to be a part of it.
