Local artist and painter Oana Befort finds inspiration for her brilliant watercolor images in the natural world that surrounds us. She’s an accomplished freelance designer whose enchanting botanical and folk-art-inspired illustrations have appeared in magazines, company logos, tapestry patterns, greeting cards, and books. She also lends her remarkable talents to several notable clients including Trader Joe’s, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Hallmark, and more. Throughout her work, Oana (pronounced ‘Wanna’) combines paint, paper, and her unique appreciation for the interplay between form, color, and light to create the most captivating portraits of plants and flowers. If you love plants, Oana’s extraordinary talent for capturing both the rich detail and the simple beauty she finds in the botanical world will make you love them even more.
That’s why we’re so excited to welcome Oana to our store in January when she’ll present a hands-on watercolor workshop inspired by some of our favorite houseplants. In this workshop, set in the greenhouse among our beautiful plants, participants will get a unique opportunity to learn the tools and techniques that a professional artist like Oana uses to create her beautiful images. With Oana’s guidance, you’ll use watercolors on paper to create botanical paintings of your own. After this workshop, you’ll be able to add your own decorative touches to gift tags, wrapping paper, greeting cards, and more, just like Oana does. Or maybe your new skill set will even mark the beginning of a creative and fulfilling new pastime.
Botanical Painting – A Workshop with Oana Befort will be held on Saturday, January 20th, from 2pm to 5pm. The cost is $70 and includes all the brushes, paint, and other supplies needed to complete the project – plus Oana’s expert instruction. We’ll have refreshments for the group to enjoy together as well. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. To join us, just give us a call at 402-496-0700, and we’ll get you signed up.
