Local artist Oana Befort loves plants and animals – and she finds artistic inspiration in the interplay between form, color, and light that she sees in the natural world. She combines these inspirations with influences from traditional folk motifs, her own memories, and the innocence of everyday family life to create botanical illustrations so captivating, you’ll find yourself lost in each enchanting detail.
As a graduate of Romania’s National University of the Arts and an accomplished freelance illustrator, Oana has lent her remarkable talents to several notable clients including Trader Joe’s, Anthropologie, Hallmark, and Fresh Thyme Farmer’s Market. If you love plants, Oana’s extraordinary ability to capture the essence of their simple beauty in all its mesmerizing detail will have you falling in love all over again.
Earlier this year, we were honored to welcome Oana to the store to present a special hands-on watercolor workshop, and we’re excited to share that she’s coming back – this time with projects featuring the rich colors and textures of the harvest and holiday seasons. Throughout this fun and inspiring afternoon, Oana will share with you the tools and techniques she uses to create her beautiful watercolor art. With Oana’s expert guidance, you’ll create your own botanical paintings while enjoying the company of other aspiring artists too. And after this workshop, you’ll have the tools and experience to add personalized touches to greeting cards, gift tags, and other creative projects just like Oana does in her work.
