Could there be better way to kick off the new year than by celebrating our shared passion for houseplants? We don’t think so, so we’re devoting the entire month of January to everything green and leafy with an exciting schedule of activities in the Greenhouse, on social media, and here on the blog. Whether you’re a veteran plant parent or a brand-new enthusiast, we think you’ll find lots to enjoy about this entire month.
A Fun Month Ahead
We look forward to this month every year, and we hope you’ll join us in all the fun. The Greenhouse is already filling up with tons of favorites, and you can watch for lots more new plants throughout the month, including some especially hard-to-find beauties. Keep an eye on our Instagram stories to watch for new arrivals as they come.
To help us celebrate, our friend and local artist Oana Befort is creating one of her beautiful plant portraits just for us – as a giveaway coming soon! On Saturdays in January, look for popups from Coneflower Creamery and other local favorites in the Greenhouse. And all month long, get inspired with some of our best how-tos and care tips over on Instagram Live and here on the blog.
Our Photo Contest // Now through January 10th
We’d love to see all the favorites from your own plant family too. Now through January 17th, enter your best plant photos in our houseplant photo contest happening over on Instagram! Just tag us in each photo and use the hashtags #mymulhalls and #mulhallsplantcontest for the chance to win a $100 gift card and a featured post over on our blog. Second and third place winners will receive a $50 and $25 gift card too. Once all entries are in, our in-house panel will select the finalists before we open the voting to everyone. Tell your houseplant-loving friends too – we can’t wait to see all those beautiful houseplants everyone has at home.
Houseplant Swap // January 30th, 12p-3p
Swapping houseplants is an exciting way to expand your collection while connecting with other plant-minded people – so grab your extras, wrap them up to keep them warm for the ride, and join us for a Houseplant Swap on Saturday, January 30th, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
Start the day by dropping off your extra houseplants beginning at 12:00pm. What qualifies as a swappable plant? Any disease- and pest-free houseplants are welcome, including well-rooted and healthy cuttings. If it’s healthy and growing and a houseplant, we’ll gladly include it in our swap. Have a houseplant book you’d like to pass on to a new reader? Those are welcome too. When you drop off your item, our team will trade your contribution for points that you can use to choose different plants or books someone else has brought in. Start identifying your potential trades now, and look for more details about this exciting event as we get closer to the day.
