Earth Day. It’s one of our favorite events of the year – a chance to celebrate the wonder of nature and to kick off another beautiful spring. Join us on Saturday, April 13th, from 11am to 2pm for live music, food, and lots of fun in the Greenhouse!
Live Music
We’re so excited to welcome Jocelyn – the 2019 Omaha Entertainments and Arts Artist of the Year –for our Earth Day celebration! Jocelyn is amazing. She draws everyone in with her pure vocals and infectious spirit. If you haven’t yet, check out her debut single “Speak Up” and the viral “Just Like Everyone Else.” After you’re hooked, join us for more in the Greenhouse.
Great Food
We’re excited to welcome back the team from local restaurant Stirnella to join us for the party too. The inspiration for Stirnella’s name comes from Sturnella neglecta, the scientific name of the western meadowlark – Nebraska’s state bird. The name reflects the restaurant’s creative menu and their appreciation for Nebraska’s unique landscape and ecology. Last year, the food was incredible, and we can’t wait to see what they bring this year.
Ice Cream + Coffee
Springtime and a scoop of sweet ice cream go hand-in-hand, and we’re thrilled to partner again with Coneflower Creamery for our spring celebration. Their wildly popular ice cream is made with real, local ingredients, and it’s so creamy and delicious, you’ll be an instant fan. Or maybe while you’re here, you’ll want to grab a cup of specialty coffee from the folks at Myrtle & Cypress Coffeehouse – a new coffee shop in the Gifford Park neighborhood.
And just to let you know, all food and refreshments are cash-only, so be sure to bring some – we’d hate for you to miss out.
Botanical Art Station
At Two Keys Creative Studios, artists engage people of all ages in meaningful projects involving a range of artistic disciplines. For Earth Day, they’ll host an art station where you can combine flowers, foliage, and other botanical elements with materials like yarn, beads, feathers, and ribbon to create your own spring-inspired wall hanging. Their station is sure to be a popular stop for children and crafty adults too.
More Fun in the Greenhouse
For more fun ways to celebrate the earth, we’ve invited the Omaha Bee Club to join us with their observation bee hive. Stop by to watch firsthand the bustling activity of a queen bee and her crew of workers. Plus, club members will be answering questions and sharing their expertise in all things bees and honey. For those of you who think you’re pretty good at telling your vinca from your verbena, show off your knowledge at our popular Plant ID Quiz – you could win a free packet of seeds to add new pollinator-friendly flowers to your garden. And be sure to stop by our Earth Loom too. We need everyone’s creativity to build a one-of-a-kind tapestry made entirely of fresh botanical elements.
Join Us for the Party
Our Earth Day celebration is always one of our favorite events of the year – and we have you and our wonderful community partners to thank for that. So join us for the fun as we kick off another beautiful spring!
