Teaching with Plants

Whether you’re a teacher, school administrator, parent, or any kind of educator, this seminar is for you! Join us as we share lots of tips and inspiration for using plants and the natural world to meet your teaching goals.

In this seminar, Cait Caughey of The Big Garden and Joey Vickery of Omaha Public Schools will explore the many benefits a natural, outdoor learning environment can foster – a love of the natural world, emotional well-being, a better ability to focus, and more.

Cait and Joey will share easy tips to get started – even in small but meaningful ways. And if you’re interested in building a new school garden or outdoor classroom, they’ll guide you through all the basics you’ll need to know – with tips on everything from getting funding to creating the space, planning the curriculum, and finding helpful resources.

Plus, all participants can enter to win four free passes to visit Fontenelle Forest or two passes to attend a teacher’s workshop at Wildlife Safari Park or Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium. This seminar also qualifies for one hour of inservice through Early Learning Connection Omaha Region. So come learn more and join the school garden movement here in Omaha!
