What a fun day we had at our 13th Annual Cactus and Succulent Show! A big thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday for a day devoted to all things cacti and succulents – especially to those of you who brought in your amazing plants for the contest. Here, we share some of our favorite highlights from the show.
So Many Strange Plants
Of course a favorite part of the show was the chance to browse hundreds of strange cacti and succulents, including the truckloads brought in by our friends and specialty growers – Rita Auer and Chris Nicewarner of Crump Greenhouse in Colorado and Bill and Terri Mann of Chaos on Coyote Trail in Oklahoma. Our team members are still talking about all the new additions we’ve added to our own collections at home.
And many of you brought in unusual plants from your collections to share in our plant contest too. Congratulations to Julie Schneider, Sue Slater, and Beth Davis Wilson for bringing the winning entries in our customer contest – and to Jasmine Osten, Dana Howerter, and Mike Reynolds for earning the bragging rights from our employee contest. We loved seeing all the plants brought in for the show!
A Plant-Minded Community
It was so much fun hanging out with everyone during the event too – talking over tables full of strange cacti, sharing prizes at our plant ID quiz, learning new expert tips from Rita, even helping safely load your beautiful cacti for the trip home. And those fresh tacos from Taqueria La Fogata and delicious ice cream from Coneflower Creamery were great additions to the celebration too. This year, we were excited too to offer special limited-edition t-shirts to commemorate the day.
Thank you again to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a fun day – celebrating some of our favorite and strangest plants.
