Swapping plants is an exciting way to expand your collection while connecting with other plant-minded people – so grab your extras and join us for our Plant Swap on Saturday, August 10th, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Last year’s swap was such a fun event, we couldn’t wait to host another – with live music, delicious food, great community partners, lots of plant talk, and tons of amazing plants to share.
Let’s Swap
Start the day by dropping off your extra plants beginning at 12:00pm. What qualifies as a swappable plant? Any disease- and pest-free plants are welcome – houseplants, herbs, hostas, daylilies, any plant at all that’s healthy and growing. Have a gardening book you’d like to pass on to a new reader? Those are welcome too. When you drop off your item, our team will trade your contribution for points that you can use to choose different plants or books someone else has brought in. Shopping at the Plant Swap will begin at 1:00pm.
Live Music from Topher Booth
While you wait to browse and swap, enjoy live music from local singer-songwriter Topher Booth. Topher’s blend of heartfelt lyrics, skilled guitar, and clear vocals are the perfect backdrop for an afternoon enjoying the plants and great company in the Greenhouse.
Plant-Minded Community Partners
Around here, we believe that talking plants with like-minded enthusiasts is the best way to spend a summer afternoon. If you agree, you’ll love the Plant Swap. Joining us are our friends from The Big Garden, Master Gardeners, No More Empty Pots, and Master Naturalists. Take a minute to chat with them about their incredible work in the community – or just take the opportunity to gush with someone who understands your love for plants. Or if you have a pressing gardening question, stop by the Ask a Master Gardener booth and get the answer straight from a team with tons of gardening experience.
Food, Ice Cream + Drinks
If you get hungry, find fuel for all that busy plant swapping and chatting with lunch from local bakery Farine + Four. For dessert, grab a cup of irresistible ice cream made with locally-sourced ingredients by Coneflower Creamery – they’re returning with that charming ice cream cart we all love. Or simply wander among the plants with a refreshing drink in hand from Myrtle & Cypress Coffeehouse. Just be sure to bring along some cash – we wouldn’t want you to miss out.
We Can’t Wait to See You
We’re excited to get together with our plant-loving community for an afternoon of swapping plants, sharing stories, and enjoying great food. We hope you’ll join us, meet some incredible plant people, and find something new to add to your garden or houseplant collection!
