Join Us for Our Harvest Party

Fall is an exciting time around here. Working where we do, we’re fortunate to experience the refreshing changes in the weather and nature’s evolving color palette right where we are – all day. Inspiration is everywhere for new planters, new landscapes, and new décor. The new mums and kale we’ve been growing at our farm are finally here in the greenhouse – and the pumpkins are just about ready too. Outside, the black-eyed Susans and sedum are attracting loads of butterflies. And soon, the trees will be showing off their new warm colors too. To kick-off one of our favorite seasons, we’re throwing a Harvest Party on Saturday, September 9th, from 11am to 2pm, and we hope you’ll join us.

To help us celebrate, we’ve invited local band Ragged Company to bring their blend of strings, vocal harmonies, and folk influences to our greenhouse. If you’re hungry, Dante Pizzeria is making fresh pizza on-site in their mobile, wood-fired oven. And of course, we must have coffee. Fall isn’t fall without a cup of something warm to carry around while you enjoy the day. Joining us for the party are specialty roasters from Archetype Coffee located in Omaha’s historic Blackstone District. They’ll have their amazing coffee as well as artisanal baked goods (like gourmet poptarts from pastry chef Kate Anderson of Dodo Bakery). They’ll be serving these delicious wonders from their mobile ArcheTrike – a coffee shop on three wheels. And, if you think your favorite pie recipe deserves a shot at local stardom, we invite you to enter our Pie Contest for a chance to win one of three Mulhall’s gift cards – find more info about the rules and how to register over at our event page.

While you’re here, be sure to stop by our honey-tasting booth too. You’ll have the chance to sample a range of natural honeys varying from pale yellow to nearly black – each with their own complexities of flavors. Did you know honey could be as varied and nuanced as your favorite craft beers? It’s surprising, but it’s true – they get their color and flavor from the type of flowers foraged by the bees.

Also joining us for the celebration are local artists from Two Keys Creative Studios – here to help you make your own nature-inspired artwork. And the party will continue outside too with hayrack rides through our nursery yard – led by Hardy Plants Team Member (and outstanding tour guide) Jason Spring. As you explore among the trees, shrubs, and perennials, Jason will share tidbits about the plants, the nursery, and anything else his witty personality comes up with. It’ll be a fun ride for the family.

We always have a lot of fun with our Harvest Party. We get to enjoy the beautiful afternoon with you and our community partners, sharing delicious food, great music, and beautiful plants. Fall is a fantastic time of year, and we hope you’ll join us to help celebrate the new season.
