Lawn Fertilization

Always wait 4-6 weeks between fertilization applications to avoid burn.

Mid April Apply Crabgrass (Pre-emergent Control) & Fertilizer combination and water immediately.
The fertilizer will green up lawns. The pre-emergent in the crabgrass control will stop seeds from germinating, so do not apply grass seed at this time.
If you need to seed at this time use Crabgrass Control & Starter Fertilizer (Syduron). Syduron allows about 80% of grass seed to germinate while controlling crabgrass.
Mid May Apply Lawn Fertilizer or Lawn Fertilizer with Weed Control (Post Emergent - helps control existing weeds like dandelions)
This should be applied in the morning when there is still dew on the ground or water your lawn lightly before application. Apply fertilizer then wait 24-48 hours before you water.
2nd Week of June Optional: If crabgrass has been a problem in past summers apply a pre-emergent and water. *See Liquid weed controls for post control.
Mid July Apply Grub Control and water.
September Apply Lawn Fertilizer and water.
Mid Oct.-Mid Nov. Apply Lawn Fertilizer with Weed Control * or Winterizer
* Fertilizer with weed control should be applied in the morning when there is still dew on the ground or water your lawn lightly before application, then wait 24-48 hours before you water. Winterizer should be watered in after application.
